Clutch bracket snapped ... under warranty!

I had to post this. My clutch bracket has never squeaked, never torqued, never did anything except reliably open and close the clutch. This evening it just snapped! But the best part is that it failed with 99,452 miles on my car. With the newly announced warranty, I'M COVERED! How often does that happen? How often does a warranty come up and protect a harm in that two month window before it expires. I love it. The part about getting the car to the dealer and actually getting fixed, not quite so much.

So your odometer reads 549 miles low...

Sounds like getting it to the dealer wasn't fun...how did that work?

did you limp the car to the dealer or did you have it towed?

The clutch is opening half way so I limped it to my mother-in-law's house and have an appointment on Monday with the dealer where I am going to try to limp it in, after I check and see how bad it looks.

Down here, this was totally blown out of proportion, and my area got the lightest of it. We have about five inches, and it is supposed to be over by 7AM. Big deal. I have snows.

Sorry nycgps. I know that it is rough up there. That is how it was here last year, but we really didn't do that badly with this storm. I hope that you got a good night's sleep and that today the roads are better.

Just did another 3 hour marathon of snow shoveling.

need to remove my house's front, side, and part of the back yard.

cars still can't move tho. cuz the whole road is covered by snow. about 1 and 1/2 feet deep. there is a minivan got stuck in the middle of the road.this morning I saw their whole family came out (like 8 of them) to try to get him outa the road, failed. Guess his car will be there at least for another day.

Last year we had two twenty plus inch storms within ten days. My baby was born just before the first one. I feel for you. Keep warm. Have some cocoa. You aren't going anywhere with the car until the city digs you out. What borough are you in? When I lived in center Philadelphia, I was lucky because I lived on a main street, but those side streets can take forever to get cleared.

Finally got word back from the Dealer, and my part should be in on Friday. It took me a few days to get the car up there, which was an interesting drive. The clutch take up was about 1/2 inch from the floor. At least it was 1/2 inch. Anyway, they say that it is definitely broken, it should be covered, and although the part was back ordered, it should in by Friday. Looking forward to getting it back.

Dealer lied. Part is still back ordered, and now they are saying next Friday. I think Mazda renews its back orders on Fridays.

Wow sucks man, maybe you should help them locate one? or see if they will get you one from a scrap yard?

Thanks Doc. Can't use a scrap yard piece for a warranty repair, and they have to get one from the Mazda dealer system because it is a warranty repair. The problem is getting up that list without, you know, waiting several months.

They fixed it! After many mixed signals from the dealer about how when the part would come in, it is back. They charged me nothing and gave me no trouble on the warranty claim, but apparently it was the worst they had seen being split through on one side. Drives like a new car.
