Is it possible to have some of the threads cleared out that only make it two posts and die with "Search before asking questions". I've been going mad trying to find anything because it seems every time I do a search and find a post asking the questions I have in mind-- it has been replied to by someone that has no ingterest in helping and only wishes to make people feel like fools for having not been around for the original discussion of a topic.

The search function on this site is almost useless with all of the dead threads still lying around and it makes this community sound asthough it's over run with arrogance.

I do search before asking questions and I will filter through 75 of such dead threads to find what I'm after-- this is not tattling on anyone. Just trying to make searching more effective so that there will be fewer questions being asked that have already been answered.

nothing in particular. I just bought an 8 about two weeks ago and I'm simply trying to educate myself on what I should expect-- basics regarding things not covered by the owner's manual and why these engines are dying all the time.

Many folks don't know about one of google's most useful features: restricting a search to a single website. So, for example, to use google to search the forum for suspension noises enter the following in the search box:
"site:rx8club.com suspension noise"
Viola. Works great on all sorts of sites.

 

What you fail to realize is that all the lazy, clueless dopes who either don't search and start thread after thread on old topics or think a forum is a place where they become a flock of parakeets incessantly chirping garbled nonsense amongst themselves are the main cause of the search issue. So calling them out as such is a fact of forum life.

Furthermore, as the first reply to your question points out - you have a lot to learn. The wisdom of experience is never served to anyone on a silver platter. You have to get off your ***, do the hard work, and pay your dues first regardless of how tedious it may be or how long it may take to go through what seems like a bunch of pointless posts. You may actually learn a thing or two if you bother to pay attention.

You may want to thicken up that thin hide though. That's the first thing they teach you in Greenhorn 101.

 

This method has been posted by others and myself many times. The fact is all the fricking noobs never bother using it or give up when the first link they clicked isnt what they were looking for. Then they come back and make a new thread to bitch about it.

 

yiksing, it has occured to me that the person who needs the site search suggestion most will never see the post I just wrote so it's really a moot point, isn't it? Oh well.
