I would love love love to own another diesel. They are getting really good at clean burning diesels but they just don't sell in the states because of a bad rep.

I don't like the tail lights. Just like I don't like the tail lights of the 3 sedan. I love the tail lights on the 3 hatch though! I hope Mazda doesn't F#@% it up on the next RX

Car manufacturers keep saying that they aren't bringing diesels to the US as there isn't a demand for them. Sadly this is very stupid of them to say as there isn't a selection to choose from. People can't buy what they can't get. You either have to buy a Jetta of Beetle diesel or you have to pay well upwards of $50K for a Mercedes diesel. Of course you also have the option of a pickup truck. How much of the population seriously falls into the camp that wants one of those options? If every car had a diesel option, I'm sure car makers would be shocked at how well they sell.

They also use the logic that many people still think of diesels as loud knocking dirty soot blowing slow engines and this too is a thing of the past. Even modern diesel trucks are getting rid of this image and a diesel VW is very quiet. It goes back to selection. You need to get more good ones here so the public can see what they have become. Far more people would change their opinion of diesel if they had a chance to experience one in person. I bought a car in April but it wasn't a diesel purely because that wasn't an option and because I didn't want a Jetta. Mazda needs to bring this car here. I bet it will sell really well.

That's still Nagare design, which will be gone when the Gen 3 cars are built. I think the new Kodo language will be much less polarizing.

Diesels can be powerful, fast, and fuel effecient. Sure a lot of diesels don't have great top speed, but they do very well when it comes to fuel. I believe that if people would worry less about how fast the top speed of a daily driver family car is, that it would help. Now the beetle diesel doesn't help the diesels reputation as they are horrible. I've driven a few, and the clean diesel technology was helpful its just a vehicle that drives poorly. On the other hand the mercedes diesel cars are great to drive. The D90 I used to own had incredible acceleration. It didn't go much faster than 80mph, but for off roading and towing it was amazing. I had tons of power, and great fuel mileage.
