Brakes. What, where, how much?

So I just got my 8. Very good deal on an 04 gt with an aftermarket sound/dvd/gps system that thumps.

Anyway. I'm reading all the DIY's on stuff and the new owner checklists. I am planning on doing all that stuff, then replacing the plugs/coils/wires and installing the K&N intake that the owner sold with the car.

First on the list however are my brakes. I bought the car knowing that the brakes needed to go asap (not terrible performance, just very noisy).

So, what brakes should I get? I would like to drive fairly aggressively from time to time, but want something that will last. Depending on what my mechanic says, I may do the rotors and a full brake job, or just replace the pads.

I priced some EBC Redstuffs on autopartswarehouse.com and they seemed pretty good, but I saw the full brake kits from Hawk that seem ok.

What do you guys use, and where do you get them?

Search.

Racing Brake ET500 pads front and rear on OE rotors. Purchased from Race Roots.

Impressions so far:
- Less initial bite than OE pads
- Stops as good if not better than OE pads when I really need to stop.
- Less fade than OE pads once heated up during spirited runs (ET500 has higher heat characteristics)
- Major squeak with OE shims installed. With shims removed, they are virtually silent
- Less brake dust than OE pads
- I am satisfied

OK, search.

Hawk HPS, Hawk Ceramic, or Racing Brake ET500 pads are the best and most popular.

I would also get some Racing Brake Rotors if you go that route.

Order Hawk HPS pads from BHR. Quality product from a quality seller. That's more pad than you'll ever need unless you plan on road racing/ tracking a lot.

Race Roots was the cheapest price out there, even before free shipping on Hawks. Thanks for all the feedback.

If you do the "configure your own brake upgrade" the price it quotes for the F&R is unreal low. The only thing I chose to include in the "brake upgrade" was the pads. Hawk Ceramics which are normally 90 for front and 75 for rear (more at other sites when you include shipping) you get them for $155, and shipping was free.
