Suspension Noob Checking In.

I currently have a Tokico D-Spec susepnsion so shocks/lowering springs. I'm sure its pretty self explantory, lowers the car 1.4"s yada yada. Okay Okay

So Im pretty sure I can't adjust it height wise because they are lowering springs only.

I'm looking at running a set of 17x10 FN01R-Cs coming pretty soon and I would like the car to be a touch lower in all corners especially the front.

So here comes the question. Can I just purchase different lowering springs to accomplish my goal? Because the ride is actually pretty nice on this d-specs. The car is mostly just a weekender car to me.

Or should i part ways with my D-Specs for something more along the line of Tein Basics or Flex or even Stance GR+ Plus?

Any input is much appreciated.

I'm thinking 1.6"-1.8" in the front and .8"-1" in the rear. Kinda along the lines of NYC's stance.

Thanks,

GerryE

You can purchase different lowering springs. I would mount the wheels up first to see how low it goes.

So.. What should I look at for coilovers then? I really enjoy the comfort I get from my D-Specs so maybe something on the similar? Basics or Super Streets, Megans, Stance GR+ Plus, Bilstein Pss9s? Any advice on the matter?

Basically just a street car, height adjustability is a big thing as is comfort so if that helps.

Depends on how much money you want to spend and what you are looking for. Coilovers wouldn't really be necessary if you dont plan on adjusting the height much during the time of ownership. Granted they are far more convenient, you usually pay a hefty fee for them.

Some coilovers give you adjustment on rebound and such, so you wont have to worry too much about the comfort as you can really fine tune that.

Then again, at half the price you can get a nice set of shocks and springs that may sit lower than your current configuration.

I personally vote for coilovers so that you dont need to depend on the fixed height and can always adjust and fine tune your height,.... but again, all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

I love my GR+ and was able to really fine tune my ride, as well as swap out my springs for stiffer springs in the rear and such. Tuning the damping really gave me fine adjustment on ride "bounce" to a point that i have absolutely no bouncing during a drive, but enough rebound that bumps dont hurt my ***.

The Bilstein PSS9's will give you by far the most comfortable ride out of the others listed. And they are also much superior shocks...sounds like a win win situation for you.

Beefy98 over in the S2 section just put some PSS9's on his S2 about a week ago. If you have questions you may want to give him a shout
