hey i have a question and was wondering if anyone may have some insight, i tried google but had no luck.

so my mom has an 04 mustang, i have an 04 rx8, a 98 eclipse, and my girlfriend has an 08 toyota corolla. i thought the older the car the cheaper the renewal, we live in CA here is a list of our prices for renewals

98eclipse $67 due july
04 mustang $174 due august
04 rx8 $210 due august
08 corolla $228 due august

so my main question is why is my moms car so much cheaper to renew when its the same year as my rx8? there both also due the same month, my girlfriends car is 4 years newer then mine but yet its only $18 more. doesnt make sense to me why mine and my moms car are the same year yet hers is so much cheaper and my girlfriends is so much newer but we pay close to the same price.

anyone have any ideas?

 

hm i never know they are of different prices, i thought they were all the same. maybe just in cali. idk lol

 

Based on the 1st years registration cost which is largly based on the sale price.

An 04 BMW 7 series would still be about $300+.

 

some places also have a gas guzzler tax, which may be the diff in her corolla and your rx8 lol
