I think my dealership screwed me. Do these look like factory Springs?

Long story.. full thing can be found at http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95609

any information on the other problems would be amazing. But somebody turned me onto this forum to see if anybody could help me identify these springs.

I was told I was being sold high performance springs with my purchase of my car back in 2008.. All these other problems have turned up the fact that these springs look and ride absolutely stock.

Please tho like I said feel free to my other more major problems either on here, the other forums or at my email address of motegiracer85@gmail.com

Thx in advance

bilstein's are what they were suppose to be. shocks/springs. from everywhere i've researched they're almost always yellow and not black. I couldnt get a good a good angle with my phone but the shocks say mazda and the springs are just straight black.

thats what i was told atleast, and what my sticker says at least.

They wanted an additional 5K for my tires and rims so they said if they took them off that they would deduct the 5K from the sticker price. so they did and then they came back and told me well hey... the cost to remove the shocks and springs labor wise outweights the cost of the shocks themselves (800 dollars he said) which i dont buy that it costed 800 dollars in labor to remove them. but he gave me in writing that I was getting the shocks/springs for free since it was too expensive too remove them, now in light of all my other problems im seeing these.

I mean it could be an honest mistake but with all the other shady stuff going on involving this dealership then i wouldnt be surprised if something else was up.

I think.

1. Those springs are not stock and are binding apparently or the pic was taken with the suspension compressed but they still look like they are binding. I have done many spring swaps on RX-8's of all kinds and the factory springs have all been black.

2. Those are factory Tockico shocks, I can tell by the stickers. The only 8's with factory Bilsteins are the Shinka's (I think but have not seen first hand), the 40th anniversary model, and the 2009 & 2010 R3's. And they are yellow on the 40th and the R3 from what I remember so I am assuming its the same on the Shinka.

3. They could be the Mazdaspeed springs and just be worn out. The Mazdaspeed springs don't drop the car much so you likely would not even notice the slight drop.

I didn't go out and check, but I'm pretty sure they're yellow on the 40th as well.

Yea those look like Tein H techs to me, gold coloring and wraps alittle bit more at the top. Tein S tech are green, I could be wrong but yea they look like Tein H techs, and those are Grand Touring model shocks by tokico.

They are yellow for sure on the 40th, I just installed a set of Tein S techs on a 40th. I had one of our local R3 owners check and his shocks are yellow as well.

If it's MS springs, it has a sparkly effect to the paint. If you saw that, then yes it is. If it's just gray, then it's not.

I'll go along with Laythor as the stock springs are black.

The shock looks stock, but if its Mazdaspeed they would have that sticker on it.

By the way..... you can't tell if there's any differance unless you track it or have driven several stock RX8's. That's why replacing springs and shocks are bullshit as he can't use them on the street. Thery're only good for the track.

MS springs...I'd almost be willing to put money on it. Sucks that the dealer is being shady.

Yeah I really am not worried about the springs too much. Just trying to get more stuff to pin them with mainly to fix my more prudent problems. Like my paint, and my antenna being stuck on by double sided tape lol.

Spent a while one the phone with the dealerships owner group and GM. This is our 8th car we've bought from them so they seemed like they were gonna repaint it for me. Let's hope so, I'm gonna ask for a different color than that shitty silver. It faded crazy fast
