No i have not forgot about you all!

So i bought a summer shore house with a few of my friends and ive been living down there this summer. I havent been driving my 8 that much but i still take care of it..so i tried driving it home yesterday, check engine light was on i wanted it to get home and get checked out at the mazda dealership...so im in bumper to bumper traffic and my car dies on me...i crank it trying to get it to turn back on and had no luck. make a long story short i waited around for about 2 hours for a tow truck to get me off the expressway then eventually it turned back on.

i left wildwood yesterday at 12 noon and did not get back to philly until a little after 8.

So this morning i wakeup and take my car to the dealership and the guy asks me all the stuff..."do you know if u replaced your spark plugs blah blah blah". i told him how i redid the whole thing wires coils and plugs and i told him i was here not even a month ago getting my oil changed.

He walks out checks my milage and comes back in with a little smirk on his face..then he was like yea you need a new engine.
my jaw dropped..this is going to be my 3rd engine in my 8!

he was like your already ahead of alot of the things that we would have to check...i told my dad and first thing my dad says is maybe they can swap your auto for a manny trans...Im gonna try to talk my dad into calling the guy..either way new engine!

Now when i get a new engine i was thinking about selling my 8 and getting a manuel trans...

What do yous think?

How does mileage indicate a need for a new engine?
Seems to me that they didn't troubleshoot it at all from what you descrtibed, and may not have done it for the past two engines as well?????

You have had three engines in this same car all under you as an owner? That sucks but i guess new engines are good....Do you have the old or new starter.

Beat dude. What dealership did you take it to?

Make sure you get the results from whatever tests they ran to determine this. Seems odd they'd be able to figure out it needed a new one that quickly...

yeah so its official..new engine.
They told me i passed the compression test but the engine is shot.
So i will be getting my 3rd engine put in next week.

Wont have my 8 for about 2 weeks.

After i get this new engine im going to sell my 8 i think. I already have almost 80k miles and i dont wanna get screwed over when im over the 100k mile warrenty and my engine dies on me again.

Is their a better starter for the 04s? Mine sounds kinda weird when I crank it...could that be it?

I think so, I brought my car over to the stealership. Had same problems but i diagnosed it and same thing they said. Coils, o2 sensor, fried CAT, and something else i forgot. but starts up fine and runs better. also got 33% better gas mileage after.

Was getting like 15mpg average . Now im getting like 21mpg average.
