RX-8 Safety Car at Mazda Motorsports Festival

Yeah, could be a top-mounted intercooler. I'm recording todays event and I'll try to get a screen shot later.
EDIT: Well, the red RX-8 with the strange hood did not show today. So the mystery continues.
EDIT2: I think this is the red "safety car" that was used for the Star Mazda race on Saturday. You can barely see the hood scoop at the red arrow and the cutaway of part of the engine cover at the yellow arrow. Looks like someones attempt to provide additional cooling air to the engine. Don't think this is an "official" Mazda vehicle.
