FL R&T Track Tire Test on RX-8

The June 2010 Issue of Road and Track has a Track Tire comparison in "Gear Box". The test vehicle is an RX8 Sport. If you want to see tires tested, on your car, at the track, it is not a bad read.

Update:
Sorry, seems I forgot to list the tires..

Toyo Proxes R888
BfGoodrich g-Force R1
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup
Yokohama Advan A0-48

Cliff Notes:

Best, BF Goodrich, not for noobs. Great until they break lose. Quote: " limit is so high when they snap loose, they snap loose big. If walls are around you will be lucky not to paint them with your fender... Novices will want to start on tires that break sooner, and with warning.

Then Toyo R 888 (gotta love it), faded a little at the end, but said was a great set for a noob, also the cheapest.

Then Michelin, heat cycles help, seemed to like how the last, most expensive.

Then Yokohama, second most expensive, Yoko recommended looking at their AD08. No idea what that one is.

After that, follow Team RX8 protocol above.

Thats nice. The BfGoodrich's are the ones I'm going to use for my first auto-cross in this car.

My guess is that for an autocross, they will be fine as long as they warm up. If they break loose, you are not going that fast. On the track, at 100 plus, it would be different. Good luck.
