AC Problems. Could it be expansion valve?

After troubleshooting for a while I still have no answers. All fans, fuses, compressor, etc. work fine. I just evacuated and recharged the AC system and I am not sure what is average for the rx8, but my low and high side readings were a bit above the norm at idle (particularly high side at around 300). Car blew cold at idle.

When car revs, the high pressure readings shoot way past 400, thus shutting down the compressor to avoid blowing the pipes through the hood, and spewing out warm air. WTF is going on? Could this be directly related to the expansion valve? I dont know much about HVAC systems, the expansion valve hypothesis came from my mechanic neighbor.

Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Possibly; what is the low side reading at idle and when you rev it up?

low side was sitting slightly above normal at idle maybe 45-50 ish and shooting up a little at rev, nothing like compared to the high side though. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get the gauges back on tonight and provide some more info.
