Intake question?
I recently purchased the K&N Typhoon intake and installed it. As this is the only intake available at this time and I was curious how is was. My question is that I know HKS is a much better system so what would be the raminfications of using the Typhoon aluminum tube with one of the HKS SMF filter. I would suspect clearance would be the only issue (HKK SMF is rather small compared to the K&N filter). I mean regardless of who makes a Intake for the 8 the tube is generally gonna be the same length. Would this work????
Its not the only intake available www.rotaryextreme.com
is another intake also available
is another intake also available
I now know that RotaryExtreme has an intake as well. However, I think that in essence they utilize the same size filter, which may or may not be overkill. That is why I was looking into the HKS SMF filter or the Greddy. Just trying to get thoughts on those filters used in conjunction with the Typhoon tube?
It would appear that RE's filter is a tad smaller and probably a K&N in itself. But I was thinkin of going with a tad smaller filter to tighten up the air. I was lookin at the HKS SMF 80mm inlet 150mm dia.
What is your noticable difference between the stock and typhoon system? I have the typhoon on my prelude and noticed it pulled up hills better and a slight increase in gas mileage. What are you results with the 8?
I have the Typhoon kit on my 8 and there is a noticable increase in acceleration. I personally like the large carbon fiber K&N filter that came with the kit. More air in. No complaints here, and the nice growl is reminescent of a turbo sound. Definate inprovement over stock and the price was right. $165.00 with the heat shield.
