Washer fluid, radar: two birds, one stone?

I was driving in the dark last night, and that pesky bright-red washer fluid light came on again. I thought: "That's a very noticable light, too bad they didn't use it from something more important and urgent.". Then, I thought:

"Hmm, what if I could wire that bright-red washer fluid warning up to a hidden radar detector instead?"

I'd have to choose an under-the-hood detector with an output, or a hackable output.

What do people think? Smart or dumb? Cool or stupid? Viable or impossible?

As long as you have a reliable way to monitor you coolant temp and you check the level frequently I don't see why not. It shuold be pretty easy to connect (there is a connector that drives that light on the coolant bottle). All you would have to do is figure out what voltage you need the radar detector to send to activate the light. If you do this be sure to post a how-to and pics. Good luck.

Yes, you're right, duh. That makes the idea less attractive (since coolant IS critical). Hmm... the two inputs could be tied together. The radar input could make the light flash, the coolant one could cause it to remain steady.
