this dealer is 2 hours away so wanted your thoughts before i drove there to check it out. If i get them down to about 12000 do you think its a good deal?

i am looking for a mt 05 or 06 with less than 50k miles with the sport package. only thing i dont like is no spoiler.

The car looks nice and it's not a bad price, but just so you know, the add says leather seats but those are the cloth ones. Might be a bargaining point.

i noticed the seat thing. i will use that when i head there. i need to get a loan first or should i try to get the loan through them? i think if i have a check i can write out then i might have a better chance of getting price down

Idk how it works, you definitely have to tell them as you are buying it so that they know what tags to put on

When u get there, make sure it has all the recalls and re-flashes done. If they say no, you WANT them included. Also, PICK OUT EVERY LITTLE THING WRONG WITH IT. Every scratch, every ding, every stain, everything. Get **** with these people. It looks really clean, but pictures can be deceiving. Either way, even if it is super clean, find something, anything to bitch about. Make it seem like you are interested but arent really sure.

Do not show how much you like it. Dont drool. Dont smile. Make sure you mention other cars you are looking at for lower prices with higher reliability. Even if its bullshit.

You want them to lower the price. Not by a couple hundred, but by the thousands. Im sure you could get it for possibly 11.5k or 12k if you play it right. Also mention if there are any scratches or something you want them fixed.

Now, if you get the loan through them, they will make out on interest, no matter how much they sell you the car for. They prolly got it as a trade in for 9k or so. So they are making profit NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY THEY GOT THE CAR FOR. I had a dealer tell me they got the car i was looking at for 13k... i laughed at him.

I drove 3 hours to look at an 05 White RX8 fully loaded without Navi for 14.5k. 23k miles on it, and the interior looked like they let loose a wolverine. Scuff marks everywhere and it looked like something try to chew off the stick shift. Guy wouldnt budge more then $200. Exterior wasnt in perfect condition either. He was a jackass and i walked out and drove a miserable 3 hours home lol.

Good luck.

+1 to everything he said.
Did that exact thing, got them to lower mine from $12,000 to $9,999 with dealer fee tag and tax included.

Dont forget, if its a dealer, they are going to charge dealer fees, tag fees, and tax... which can be an extra thousand.

thanks for the info. really helpful. i want to get there asap now lol. i cant wait.
this is the carfax
http://www.autotrader.com/redirect/r...586&make=MAZDA

i was looking over the car fax and it seems like oil was changed like 2 times at 5k mile intervals.

if the engine goes will this car fax be enough to get it replaced? if these were done at a mazda dealer will they know exact details and so i should be good?

i cant make it there for a week plus i have to try and get a loan. i am only 19 with some credit. all good credit but only some. i hope it does not sell

oh yeah i know. i am saying OTD with my local tax that is going to have to be paid of 7%. its a no deal if its over 12k. depending on how the car looks and such when i get there maybe at most 12.5k. i am sure the emotions will get me but i know when to walk away.

i never drove a manual car so i am going out to practice with my moms solstice right now. i road race sport bikes so i am sure i will get the hang of it quick. i could just see me stalling it and flooding it. maybe i should flood it so it will make the car look bad lol.

Hate to break it to you but working with a dealer is like an art and you are not going to want to let them know that you drove from out of state to look at it. That is going to make you look super interested in it and will hurt you.

2nd thing is do you have a financial calculator and know how to use it? For instance 12k (after tax and title) with 7% interest comes out to this

24mo term- 534.16 a month OVERALL= 12,819.72
36mo term- 368.38 a month OVERALL= 13,261.68
48mo term- 285.69 a month OVERALL= 13,713.04

So dealers will play tricks on you and really the only way you can really see what your paying is by having so handy tools If you have any questions about pricing for certain interest and how much you will be paying feel free to PM me.

i know how interest works. i am talking final price between me and the dealer not me and my bank.

i could pay cash but i like to have that as back up money for this race season. i am ok with paying my bank 1200-1400 bucks interest over the next 3-4 years so i can have another toy.

so i guess i should not let them know i am from out of state until we agree on a price? i dont even know what this cars like but i can apply this info to others if need be.

Service records --- ask for them
Everything above is good advice.

Don't let them con you into an extended warranty, the cost of mazda extended warranty will cost a pretty penny with he mileage the car has already. You still have your 100k power-train working for you

the price online was just lowered 1000. i am going to call in morning find out if the price is firm or not. i also have to ask if my dad can cosign somehow although he lives out of state. if he can co sign and they will move on price i am heading there to check it out. i figure i can get them to the price i want and figure out the loan part latter.

i am going to go for 11k out the door now that they seem to want it gone.

should i ask them to do a compression test? will they do it or just lie to me about it?

$11k out the door is a price i would buy it at.

dont settle for me. if they want more, let them know that $11k out the door is your final offer, leave your number, and walk. when they get desperate enough, they'll call.

its good you are coming at the end of the month. they are always trying to make their quotas.

as others said, looks great from the pictures. assuming you can talk them down to a good price, i'd definitely have them take off the stupid vinyl dealer decal on the bumper as part of the deal... i hate those things.
