Firstly I have searched for an answer to this and although there
are quite a few threads where the insufficient loudness of the
buzzer/chime/squeaker is discussed there's nothing pertinent.

Does anyone know the physical location of this critter? I'm going
to attempt to replace it with something louder like a Mallory
'Sonalert' or something similar but need to find the darn thing
first. Anybody have a service manual yet and could research this
for me?

If I'm successful at loudening the redline alert I'll post with pics
and details.

Wow... this was an old thread.
But the buzzer is on the instrument cluster.
Not sure if the buzzer is surface mounted or PTH, just going off the electrical diagram.

I think I see why some people haven't done this.
According to the service manual, you need to perform an "Instrument Cluster Configuration" before remove the cluster (and you perform this with the WDS).
Failure to do so will result in system malfunction (whatever that means).
