Is this the piece that goes in the rear accent piece? It is pretty easy you just have to tap in to the rear brake lights.

yeah it is. came with a new dsc/fog lamp switch to install. replaces the stock dsc button it seems. looking at all these pics in the instructions seems overly complicated for all it is...hum.

thanks for the advice you guys. Seems like the whole install is a royal pain. Just using the lamp wired up to the brake lights, and a switch just to add the option of turning it off at will seems the best setup.

This is the rotary accent light in the rear? Yeah that is an option on all Euro/Asian cars.. not in the US though =/

Lebren made something like...

I already done that! I'll post some pic up. Good luck with that instruction. Apparently there is that 1 module in that instruction that the North American car does not have. And for the switches that is provided to work...you will need that module. I already took it in the Mazda Dealership by my place, no luck there. What I do for now is just wired up as a brake light. By spring time i probably wired up to the front fogs.

FYI, I have a 2004 w/ the rear fog light, switch and japanese harness.. I also have some of the instructions translated to english.

Feel free to PM me, and I can help you through the process. (If you have a LHD car, and have the JDM RHD harness, there are a few changes you need to make to the harness to hook it up...)

Also the NA dash does not have a rear-fog indicator light.. so to be technically legal, you should add one...

Pictures of my install:

What you don't see in the pictures is the harness re-wiring.. and also the (front) fog-light rewire under the hood that is required as well.

I bought it half a year ago, i didnt connect it to the dash, i just plug it to the tail light wire, so when the open the low beam, tail light is on ,the fog lamp is on at the same time...its just too complicated to install it following the instruction. you have to get your rear seats out and etc.
If you pay someone to install it, it could take more than 3 hrs, just dont worth the money

Either way, make sure whoever is installing it understands the purpose (rear fog light, vs third "tail light"). Be sure to change the bulb if it's going to be a third tail light, it's simple too bright otherwise.

If you plan on installing the switch and wiring harness it WILL need to be rewired for the LHD car...

In many states it is illegal to use the rear fog light unless you are in specific fog conditions. (While the front fog lights can be used virtually at any time.)

My suggestion... Either use a lower brightness bulb and consider it a running light, or connect it properly to a switch and use it as a rear fog light, only when conditions are appropriate.

As a cop in NJ there is no law that I can think of that makes a rear foglight illegal. What my title 39 book on vehicle equipment any lighting in the rear of the vehicle must be in red. Turn signals are to only be in red, amber or white. Besides if I see and 8 with a rear fog light I'll pull them over just to ask where they got it. lol
