So tint overlays didnt work at all.... any suggestions?
So i just attempted to apply the tint overlays from RotaryFX... i was told this would be hard by other members but i had already made the purchase so i just decided id give it my best shot with my best friend... yea it didnt work one bit...
No matter how hard we tried their was always a new huge wrinkle forming in certain points and it just got to frustrating...
Any suggestions on how i should tint my tail lights? If no one has any suggestions then i was just going to get them professionally tinted when i get my windows tinted.
I would love to just buy the rx8 tail light cover that is already tinted but i cant find anything like that...

That stuff is effective for small parts, however with tail lights or larger surfaces it gives off a dry-spray/ orange-peel look.
If you do go this route, get some 1000+ Grit sandpaper and do some wet sanding, then apply a final coat of clear and have at it with some 1500+ wet sanding again until you reach 2000 grit and a smooth polished finish.
Or take it to a shop who will do all that for you.

I assume they go on like tint or the clear bra I have installed on my and other friends' cars.
You need a spray bottle with a few drops of clear shampoo mixed in. Spray the tail light and remove the film from the paper with wet hands and place it on the light. Using a hair dryer and more soap/water solution, you have to shape the two dimensional material on to the three dimensional surface. In other words, you warm and stretch it and squeegee out the water with one of those shower squeegee things. Youtube installing clear bra or paint protection film and you should be able to see it. It does take some practice.
Good luck!

DO NOT pay to get them professionally done. Thats too much money for something you will get pulled over for. Just get the JDM Tail Light spray. You can find it at some auto parts stores and even online. It's SUPER easy to apply and comes off with goof off. You only need one small can for RX8 tail lights too, which is $30 at most. I've done it twice to my RX8, and three times to friends cars. I even used it to smoke my corners on my old 8. If you have any questions or need me to link you, PM me.
DO NOT listen to bigdaddy ahah, don't use paint dude. You'll ruin your taillights.

I used the nightshades on my 99 intrepids tail lights. Easy to work with, use CC and 1000-2000 grit sandpaper and repeat if needed. Easy to remove also.
