Item Transportation Threads

I have seen this on a few other forums on the internet:

People who travel offer explain where they are going, how long they will be there, and their estimated time back home. While they are gone, they are willing to transport parts to certain areas close by for a small fee.

Idk if anyone thinks this is a good idea, but just thought it would be a good sub-forum in the For Sale areas, serves as a good alternative to shipping.

Each side of the transaction gives the person who is going to transport the items their Home Address. It might seem kind of sketchy, but I haven seen it work before and I thought it was a great system.

Yes, you do have to trust someone you might not know, but if you dont' feel comfortable with it, then you don't have to do it.

Well that is what the 2 sides of the transaction have to negotiate with the person who will be transporting the items. They need to figure out where/when to go to pick up the items, and then where/when to drop them off to the other person.

It might seem complicated, but it really is easy. I have done it before and once you know where to go and when to be there, it's a piece of cake. And it is a great way to make money while meeting fellow 8 owners.

Good idea, have address & stuff all pm'd, that info is passed on for shipping reasons anyway.

And yeah it is all done through Personal Messages. I don't expect someone to post their Home Address so the whole forum can see lol.

I think its a decent Idea, much better than paypal, wire transfers etc.
A hands C Cash.
C Trades Cash for Part with B
C Gives A Part.

but if C = Crook, all are screwed.

As far as I'm concerned the best way to sell is in person. Period.

So can we call it the " Fed-RX" forum?

Well obviously that is the most efficient method of selling. But when person to person is hard, then there can be a sort of "messenger" between those 2 people.

So can we call it the " Fed-RX" forum?
Ha if by some chance this get created, I'll request it to be named that.

I'll confer with the other mods- this doesn't sound too safe, honestly.

I see what you are saying. But there are always going to be uncertainties with anything dealing with selling over the internet.

This is an honest question, and give an honest answer:

Why do you think this would/would not work?

Obviously that is not something you do with this idea...it is ITEM transportation, not CAR transportation...

Ever hear of "Drive away?" Not sure how popular it is these days, but at one time it was a pretty common way of moving your car and a homeless person cross country.

Just check out "Vanishing Point" and "On the Road" for testimonials.

Why? Because just dealing with my own parts and situations is time consuming enough.

For a friend, sure. For just anybody, fugetaboudit ....
