Mazda, Ford reaffirm tieup

HIROSHIMA (Kyodo) Mazda Motor Corp. President Takashi Yamanouchi said Monday that he and Alan Mulally, president of Ford Motor Co., agreed last month to continue their capital and business alliance.

Yamanouchi told a news conference he paid a call on Mulally at the Ford headquarters in December, and the two chief executive officers confirmed there will be no change to the firms' tieup despite the realignment taking place in the global auto industry.

Ford intends to maintain its 11 percent stake in Mazda and said its partial sale of Mazda stocks in fall 2008 was due to Ford's financial condition and wasn't meant to change the strategic relationship, according to Yamanouchi.

So don't feel bad about buying Japanese when you get an RX-8...11% of your purchase helps the economy.

I'm glad to hear Ford & Mazda will continue working together; this has been a good alliance for both parties and hopefully we get some more exciting products out of this.

Yamanouchi told a press conference in Hiroshima that he paid a call on Mulally at the Ford headquarters in December, and the two chief executive officers confirmed there is no change to their firms' ties, even as a series of realignments is taking place in the global auto industry.

Personally, I still think their "relationship" will be a lot more distant as virtually ALL the Ford Board Executives and even department manager in Japan where pushed out by Mazda, told to go home!

for sure the "relationship" is on new basis.....

less tie-up.....

one of the most bigger problems of Mazda now is the big platform (G series...CD3 for Ford.....Mazda6, cx-7, cx-9 MPV), who is rejected by Ford group...they will use Mondeo EUCD plaform fo Mercury, Lincoln models .....

well'see the decision of Mazda for future cx-7 and 6.
