2010 Ariel Atom 3 price drop $49,980

According to TMI's newsletter via email, they have achieved cost reductions that allow the new price.

Standard specifications:

- Honda JDM 'K20A' FD2 Engine
- Normally Aspirated @219hp
- 6-speed Close Ratio Transmission
- w/Limited Slip Differential
- PBR Floating Caliper Brakes
- TIG Welded Tubular Steel Chassis
- Fiberglass Composite Body Panels
- Choice of 8 Standard Body Panel Colors
- 12-Spoke Team Dynamic Wheels

Now, it is not as overpriced as before. If someone had a 3 car garage, they could easily:

1. ariel atom for driving to/from work
2. cayman s for grocery trips
3. rx8 for hauling cargo from home depot

That would be a sick, yet still affordable setup for an average non-tracking Joe.

The best thing about that car, would be looking cool jumping over the rails.

However, if you slipped and hit your face on the pavement or knocked your head on the steering, you would look dumb.

The good news is, you can look cool for free by throwing yourself into the rx8 you already have. It requires a certain amount of speed and risk, and the hand placement puts some strain on the door hinge that I'm not so sure about long-term.

Sometimes there is a perfect gap and angle when the door is open that you can slip in there sideways with both feet off the ground. Left hand on the door handle, right hand on the side of the headrest, and just dump yourself in there. Various advanced techniques can be developed here to rack up more style points and advance to the next level.

The more advanced rx8 drivers generally prefer a backflip through the sunroof. 3 people have died so far in unfortunate landings, by catching their chin on the edge.

But by dedicating themselves entirely to the rotary lifestyle, they managed to be among the handful who successfully unleashed the original 247 hp from a renesis na engine. Demonstrating to us all the intense dedication required to achieve complete rx8 mastery.

Tested in this month's C&D Lightning Lap. To me it looks like a some dune buggy kit car.

I'd have to agree with TeamRX8 on this one. And for further clarification, I got to sit passenger in one at full song.

One of the members on the Miata forum I frequent has a black Ariel Atom with a lot of body modifications. He stated that even with the optional aero (carbon diffuser in the front and rear wing in the back), the car can't effectively put the power to the ground.

When sitting passenger, I saw how the driver is constantly making steering inputs and corrections. It is absurdly fast, but I don't think it performs like a true formula car - something that its design and shape suggests.

Personally, I think the Rossion Q1 (which I also got to ride in) is a more capable track car than the Ariel Atom.
