Car dies suddenly fuel pump
Car dies suddenly fuel pump
Hey guys i was low on gas earlier driving to grandmas and the car suddenly started sputtering and wouldn't take gas. Started it back up and babied it home but it did it several more times. It seemed70, to do it worse going up hills. I put a litle more gas I had lying in a can into it thinking it was out of gas, but it wasn't so low that it was out of gas haha. Anyway, im thinking maybe the fuel filter or fuel pump is messed up? if i understand correctly the filter is in the pump anyway? You guys think I need a new pump and if so where is the cheapest place to order one. I called the local auto parts stores and none of them have it in stock anway.

Did you try a full tank yet? Has it been cold there? If its been cold and you are low on fuel there could have been moisture in the tank. I would buy some dry gas and fill you tank. Start with the easy stuff first.

That would be a good idea.
Thanks
Mine went bad and had to change it out. You should probably consider getting one of these upgrade...BHR Walbro RX8 Fuel pump
Started the car this morning and drove to town to fill it up with gas.
It never missed a lick the whole way there.
Filled it up with gas and drove it back home, very spiritedly and again it never messed up once.
Any thoughts? Something just plugged up and came undone or what are your guys thoughts.

Changing to that pump wont void my 100,000 mile engine warranty will it ?\\
My car does the same thing when I get under a 1/4 of a tank. From what I have read it is the fuel pump. So long as I stay above a 1/4 tank I don't have any problems. I got stranded once and had to walk to the gas station for fuel. Once I got the car to the gas station I could only get 12 gallons in it. For now I stop for fuel more often.
