GM has announced that they are about to pay back their loan, so we won't be able to call them Government Motors anymore.

Cosidering there was still billions that were spent during the bankruptcy we won't be getting back I doubt we'll be seeing the whole amount. Either way, that money will be put back into the general fund and spent on other nonsense.

To each his/her own opinion. Let's keep these threads out of the normal forums. It's called "Lounge."

And to balance out the nastiness, I think she is doing a good job.

Can't we just have a thread about the Detroit Auto Show and horrible Cobo Hall?

I though this was only about 6 billion? But the government will still own 60% of the company since they financed the bankruptcy and loaned them tons of money to stay afloat for 6 months. The government is still hoping to get out of it once GM does an initial public offering. Considering GM doesn't seem to be making much progress other than swapping CEOs every 6 months, this could be awhile.

From what I have read, it does not look like taxpayers will be getting much of the money loaned to GM and Chrysler back. The committee even admitted they didn't realize how bad a shape GM and Chrysler was.

I just feel sorry for those who got screwed by GM's "bankruptcy"

CUz not only Taxpayers (everybody here) got screwed, also their part supplier, the banks, the .... argh you get the idea.

Now they're "debt free" and start all over. wow.

Dont worry, we will see another bail out real soon. Volt is coming !

Our Lady of San Francisco will of course be looking for 'green' developments and the dream of the electric donkey as promised in the last convention

But if a case could be made that a rotary could be developed into a low emission super engine - who knows what could happen!
