sporadic oil light

So recently my oil light has been coming on randomly. I'd say it started maybe a month ago. I took it to the dealer for a oil change and decarbon near the end of summer and I know it never started doing this before then. Now I dont drive my 8 that much. I put 5k miles on it since last december. Is it the oil pump or something else? Maybe its going bad? Anyone ever experience this before? I do check the oil regularyly and I am never low and I dont premix. Im thinking the dealer may have messed something up during the decarbon. Oh its on 05 standard with 35k miles btw.

Could be the sensor on the oil pan. Check it.

It *could* be an oil pressure sending unit going, but the oil light is one of those things you don't want to mess with. If it's coming on for any reason, it needs to be checked out. Insufficient oil in your car could do very bad things.

To the OP,

This car burns oil as one of its characteristics. I hope you knew that BEFORE buying the RX8. It's not a very friendly motor if maintenance has been neglected.

Maybe some people just dont read. I stated I check the oil regularly and never let it get low so therefore I do add oil when its needed. Ive been a member here for a while now and decently knowledgeable about the 8 despite my low post count. I pretty much just lurk and only post if I have a question.

Thanks Old Rotor. I'll look into the TSB.
