So my cruise control doesnt work. The cruise control light comes on but i cant set it.

Story: My tranny decided to break one day as i was going down the freeway with the cruise control on. After having the tranny replaced the cruise control never worked. Ive taken it back to AAMCO and they said they didnt do anything that could have caused this.

I searched this and a few people have said that there switch is bad which could be my problem but it just seems to much of a coincidence that it doesnt work after having the tranny replaced.

A mechanic friend of mine suggested maybe a speed sensor cable wasnt hooked up right.

Any ideas?

 

I had this problem after a trans rebuild. The trans shop mistakenly installed a crush washer on the neutral switch. This caused the switch to never be engaged when the trans was was in gear. So the ECU always thought the car was in neutral, which prevented the CC from engaging. It caused a CEL though, which it sounds like your problem isn't.

The speed sensor isn't in the trans. There's only a neutral switch and a backup light switch.
