Removing Spray Paint from OEM Wheels

The idiot who had my car before me spray painted the wheels black. The black looks nice cause the car is silver... But you can definitely tell they were spray painted and they are beginning to chip. If I want them black, I am going to do it right, powder coat.

But for the time being, I want to remove the paint without damaging the original silver finish of the wheels to see if I just want to leave them silver or not. The black looks pretty mean since the tail lights are blacked out, and the windows are tinted.... But since I know how it looks black I want to see if I like silver more before ruining the stock finish.

So how do I get the spray paint off without destroying the original finish?

Sandblasting seams like the obvious answer, but I am not sure if that will mess the original finish up or not.

Thanks!

P.S. Your opinion, favorite wheel color on a silver 8: Black, Gunmetal, silver?

sandblasting will most likely hurt the original finish. i would suggest using a lacquer thinner (wheels off car and tires of wheels, of course). and if that isn't enough, which it should be since its spray paint, try paint stripper. if you have to use the paint stripper, put a little tiny bit on, let it sit till it bubbles the paint, then wipe it off with water and see if it hurts the finish of the rim.
