Question Trailer Hitch

Does anyone, perhaps one of the UK members, have access to the Mazda part number for trailer hitch that is available in the UK? If so, would you please post it?
Thanks,
Ernest

Can't imagine needing one myself, but my UK accessory list shows hitch (tow bar) number to be FE15V3920
Don't suppose UK wiring harnesses will be any use in US.

PGB,

Thanks for the part number. I really do appreciate it.
Not sure whether the harness would work or not. Is that a separate part or does it come with the hitch?

The UK accessory list has 2 wiring harness for towing.

(a) the standard 7 core harness (12N) for simple trailers that feeds a 7 pin plug for rear lamps, turn indicators, etc. Part # FE19V3921 at Ł140 !!

and

(b) the secondary 7 core harness (12S) used by campers to power auxiliary feeds in the caravan, etc. using a different style of 7 pin plug. Part # GJ8AV3921 at Ł65 !!

Neither of those will likely be suitable for the US market, which uses a dinky little 5-pin plug for most small trailers, quite unlike any I've seen overseas.

FYI...My owner's manual has a very bold note saying "...NEVER use your Mazda (RX-8) to tow...will void warranty..."

The Miata manual has a similar statement, however, I have pulled a trailer behind many of mine (four total, M1 and M2), over the past twelve years and have not had one single problem, and those trips have included ones from Alabama to Texas, Indy, Washington DC, and Canada.

If one uses some reasonable discretion in what they pull then it won't hurt the car, the RX-8 included.

Just my personal opinion based on lots of experience.

By the way, I pull a Bushtec motorcyle trailer and have had it up to 95 mph and you don't even realize it is behind you unless you look in the rearview mirror.

Dear Mr *****

We have however forward your comments to our parts department for their
information.
