Staggered setup, (somewhat)

Okay folks, easy one hopefully.

I had two general Exclaim UHP 245/40/18's put on the rear. My stock bridgestones in the front had at least 50% tread so i kept them on the front.

So 225/45/18 fr, 245/40/18 r.

Problem? The car handles like absolute dogshit. The front end feels very floaty, and even when taking an offramp at my average speed of 65ish, the front tires sort of dig into the pavement getting CRAZY understeer, which triggers my traction control light to flash. It's a very weird phenomenon that feels very un-natural.

So my question is this. I'm hoping this is happening is because of the front, stock tires are of an inferior size compared to the rear, thus having tremendously less grip up front.

And maybe the fact that it's 50/50 balanced car, this problem is happening, not having equal tire sizes?

I get the same thing with 235/40 in the rear and 225/45 in front...

You have created your own problem. First with the different size tires. Second the front tires with 50% tread have less grip than the new tires you have on the back...

I would get the same size tires for the front (new) and this should correct the problem...

I already ordered another set of the same tire.

I knew perfectly well what i was getting into. I expected understeer issues but i did not expect it to be this severe.

So all is good, just making sure it wasn't something else.

Well personally, the stockies were crap tires to begin with, so allowing more weight to hit them under hard cornering is why your understeering

Crap tires, different outer diameters F/R, different width F/R None of these help handling on an rx8. Glad you equaled it all out.
