Sick sale on Pirelli's at TireRack

For anyone looking for a great deal on summer tires, Tirerack is having a sale on Pirelli PZero Nero in 2 different sizes that'll fit the OEM rim: 225/40ZR18 and 235/40ZR18 $120 a piece, usually they're over $200 a pop. Summer tires only! Dont get these unless you also have a set of snows. My guess is they're clearing out inventory to make room for snow tires...

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....del=PZero+Nero

I just bought 4 of the 235's, they'll sit in my basement till next summer, but that's fine. Still have decent tread left on my Bridgestone's...

If I get 235/40ZR18, will I be able to fit those on an 8.5" rim? I'm still on the stock rims right now, but I want to upgrade soon. Alas I need some rubber now.

Pzero Nero is their entry level performance tire. It's not an assimetrico and what not. Just fyi.

These things are squirrely. I guess because they're still new. I don't need an alignment just for tires, right? Feels like I do right now :\

Alignment is like an insurance, you spend a little now and risk spending less later. You might never need one

You do not need an alignment when swapping tires.

For now I'm going to chalk it up to increased tramlining. There are no weird vibrations or anything like that. It felt fine on the old tires, so it's not an alignment issue. I don't see how they could screw up installing tires.

Ya i never really like the Pzero Nero. I've had experiences with them wearing funny on Mercedes.

It's not a sticky tire, this is like the Falken ZE912 for the pirelli line.

You can call it entry-level or whatever you want, but if you look at the direct comparisons tirerack and others run against the top-end tires from bridgestone and michelin and others, it's right up there. This is a very good tire at a very good price. I'm wearing out the end of my potenza s-03's which are PHENOMENAL, and I have every reason to expect these to be pretty much as good, I wouldn't settle for less.

for the record - i had these tires for the last 2 years. drives great, dr and in the rain, and on the track too.
BUT - not nearly as good treadlife
Pzero nero: 25,000 miles + 1 track day
bridgestone s-03: 35,000 miles + 3 track days

performance was about the same.

Thanks for the info. Will check it out because my tires are thinning and might need new tires soon.
