URGENT (car in shop)Replacing Rotors

My car is at the shop and by brakes squeak like crazy. The guy is telling me I need new rotors and pads because the rotors are below the discard spec at 817 on the fronts. I think he is just trying to get me to spend more money. Does this sound right? He wants to charge $870

You can get a nice new set of Racing Brake rotors for around $400. OEM rotors should cost nowhere near that.

Run from that shop. $870 to replace front brakes & rotors is outrageous.

You can get good pads, rotors and lines for less than that.

what a coincidence, i just finished doing my brake pads last night, pretty darn simple. i'm probably going to finish doing brake lines and probably rotors, racing brake has 1 piece slotted for about 460 i think for front a rear.

I just changed all 4 pads (well, still need to change the 4th one :D) for a total of $156 (parts) + $10 (shipping) + $15 (tools). I got the HAWK ceramic pads. The price difference sounds way too much just to get the new rotors.

I bought four racing brake rotors, stainless lines, hawk ceramic pads and shipping to Canada for Canadian $850... (add a plug for fluidmotorsports)
