When I bought my 09 a little over a month ago the dealership had some paper that listed the changes as very minor, some color changes, the GT now come with moonroof standard, a few volume changes in the coolant and something other very minor. They told me the papers weren't the official changes but said most likely not much will be differant between 09 and 10.

That's a shame that you can't really add or change anything about the R3. bummer.

only 4 colors left, only 3 of which is available on the *regular* trims, and only 2 for r3? i think they're winding this car down for this market. w/ so few being sold, not surprising. i just hope the next rotary car comes soon

Bluetooth is on the 09's and I might say its really slick integration.

I would agree. Not that it isn't a great car, but I think part of it is that pretty much everyone who wants an 8 already has one. The changes have not been significant enough since the car came out for most people to justify buying another one. Now if the '10s had the 16x it might be different.

I am kinda considering getting an R3 but I want to wait till the end of the year to see how good the deals get. I'm also looking at the Mustang and Challenger, but I figure Ill wait until '13 for the next rotary car so the bugs from the first year can be worked out. (That is if it actually comes out in '12 or at all)

In looking at a few of the other vehicles, it seems Mazda might be doing a few things to streamline and cut costs. I was looking at the 2010 Speed 3 on the website and there is only one trim level. No more leather (GT) option. A lot of color selections have also been decresed.

wow,

that has me looking at 09s.

the r3 is fine, but i would not own either color..

the gt would be fine, but i have no use for a sunroof.. and the colors the four of them, just not good..

i think they are setting themselves up for fail.. have they looked at colors in this car that sold the best in the past?

they were not red or blue.

the silver is close enough to gray, and well black is black..

beers

If you wanted a black one, Im sure you will be able to get a hell of a deal on an '09 if you wait till around the end of the year. The car is 99.9% unchanged anyway.

No white anymore. Looks like I'll have to get a 2009. Too bad I don't have the money for one yet. I'll have to get one used later on. Sucks.

Only difference is that the '10's no longer have the "mazda" badge in the left side of the trunk...as someone else has already pointed out. Rest looks the same. Looks like they will gradually be phasing the Rx-8 out. This time next year, hopefully, we get to see the new "RX".

As much love i have for the 8, its living on borrowed time. Should have been discontinued after the 09 models IMO (unless, of course, major changes were made to performance/app for 10's)...but im sure Mazda didnt want to take the rotary out of the lineup alltogether without a replacement, so, i guess they will keep spitting out the same ol 8 until the new rotary is ready to go.....or dare i say IF....
