I'm trying to look for a new car. I've been research on new sports cars for 2010-2011. Astonishingly I came across that Mazda is coming out with the Rx-7 again (WOW!) . What do you guys think about the New 7 that's coming out sometime 2010/2011? Do you guys think It will be better then that of the New 370z that just came out recently? DO you guys know anything about its specs? I can't wait to get my hands on the New Rx-7!

everything points to it happening, the question is when and what the final product will actually be. They designed a whole new engine... and I dont think they did that just to scrap it. I thought they weren't supposed to have the car ready till 2012 though.

 

If you look at a bunch of other car manufacturers, they all developed new engines that took years to make and are super efficient, threw it into concept cars, and they never made it to the assembly line.

 

For example, look at the Furai, there are a bunch of people who thought that it would be produced considering how much R&D was going on with it...

The Furai was never intended to be a concept car for production. It was a car to show people what Mazda is capable of and to show the brand image of Mazda. It was built on a retired C65 Le Mans Prototype car which came with the 20B design that dated way back to the late 80's (though there were some new "renesis" influence in it). If you think about it, what are the chances of a Le Mans prototype race car being put into production and onto the streets?

Mazda used the "flow" styling they put into concept cars like the Nagare, Furai and other cars into production cars like the Miata and Mazda 3. So concept cars do have some influence on production cars.

hmm think in 2010-2011 ill trade in my Mazda 3 and most likley get a STI (hatchback version) for a DD.
