I'm new to this site. Tried to find a thread for this topic but had no luck. Just curious what each of you were able to max out at for your Top Speed.

I saw a Youtube video of a guy in B.C. that mentioned he pulled off 266. I ran into an owner at hwy 50 & hwy 7 (Sunoco Gas station) washing his car....he mentioned that he pulled off 260.

Has anyone managed anything beyond 270? Just curious. Haven't had this car too long and I haven't had a chance to really push my car yet. Will take it to the track one day.

Why are you even interested in a top speed??
Especially when our law says 50 over and they'll impound your vehicle!

The RX-8's are governed hard by the ECU. I would be surprised if it actually hits 250km/h.

^the MT's arent governed, ATs are, they just top out at 149MPH cus of drag...if youre going down hill you might be able to push it a lil further

 

With stock 4.444 diff, you should get (assuming my calculations were correct):

In 5th:

9000rpm ~ 251 km/h
9500rpm ~ 265 km/h

Keep in mind that the engine is probably going to be out of its power band any further... same goes with 6th gear...

 

I believe all the stock RX-8's are speed limited to 255kmh. Only car I actually got that from was a new at the time 1993 RX7 R1 25th anniversary. Wont say what highway but it got to 255kmh then you could feel the limiter hit. Mspeed 6 is the same 255kmh or 155mph. Dont forget changing the tire diameter etc could have an effect on what you read on the speedo's.

I was under the impression that ALL cars being sold in canada had to be limited to 250km/hr.

 

I dont know if its law I do know that my friend from Ferrari told me no limiters on them!

Yes that is what I thought. Our speed limiters are 255kmh RX8 Mspeed, 210kmh for the rest other than trucks, my B4000 is 145kmh!

 

people have recorded faster, coming from texas on a nice slope

 

Top speed is 216km/hr @ 6th gear 6500 rpm. Could not go any faster.
