mother's powerball...good? bad?
mother's powerball...good? bad?
whats up guys. i did a quick search, but couldn't find a specific thread about this product.
anyways i was just wondering if anyone uses/used mother's powerball drill attachment whenever they detail the car. i saw a commercial on it the other day and was interested.
i was just wondering about it, because it takes a whole lot of time and elbow grease to wash, clay, polish, and wax. i'm not lazy at all, its just i dont have that much shade long enough, and after i'm done cleaning my car i'm exhausted..
anyways, back on topic, is this product good? bad? decent? it looks like a poorman's buffer basicaly because you just attach it to any power drill...so how does it hold up? does it damage the paint or does it actually do a good job?

What are you going to buff. As far as I know, the Powerball is for polishing chrome & other metal surfaces. Almost everything on the RX8 is painted, including the wheels.
maybe on wheels
would never put that crap on the body. looking at the way it's shaped, it might take longer than just by hand -_-
not to mention most drills are probably putting out way too much power
I just use my bro in law's porter cable. not that expensive and well worth it IMO

alright then, i'll save the money then, and keep cleaning by hand...
hmmm, perhaps i should get a porter cable then...just trying to save some time and get a good shine.

The Mother's Powerball did such a nice job on my stock Shinka painted rims I held off getting new ones for awhile [longer].
Used it on my daughter's far more beat up Mazda6 rims and it also helped them a great deal.

hmmm, ok i save the 30 bucks and save up to get a pro buffer than. doesn't seem like its worth it. might as well keep doign a good job by hand. i need to invest in a freakin canopy so that i can do it in the day.
i have a small mothers ball. i havent used it on my 8. i used to use it on my trucks wheels because its alot easier to clean the back of wheels without taking them off if you have the extension for the mothers ball. its a great buffing tool...but i dont think its for paint at all
no no, i'm not talking about that one, mother's made one for paint, its yellow instead of red. however i'm thinking of not cutting corners and isntead just buying a pro buffing tool
the pro tool is definitely worth it ill vouch for it save up but in the mean time do it by hand its better than most of the other stuff out there i still do mine by hand and use the toll occasionally
It works wonders on getting the brake dust off of rims, I also use it to clean my exhaust tips. It is great on hard to clean surfaces.
I also will occasionally use it on my headlights if they start looking funky. Oh, and as far as for painted surfaces, the drill on low speed will work magic on the bugs on your front bumper

I use the powerball for my exhaust tips. I take a peice of never dull and wrap it around the ball. A good 30-60 seconds later, the tips are nice and clean. Then, I rinse the ball and wipe off the residue from NeverDull. I finish my tips with the PowerBall and some Aluminum Polish. Makes them nice and shiny. As for the rims, I use Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Brake Dust wipes right off. Thing is incredible.
Oh Gawd... This thread is so messed up.... People are confusing the Power Ball, Power Ball Mini, and the PowerBall 4Paint!!!!
I have the Power Ball Mini with extension - This is used to wax my wheels. I love it as it saves my knuckles from a beating.
I also have a Power Ball 4Paint - I use this to wax my car. I have used this thing once and I love it for it's results and for it's speed. Before using the Power Ball 4 Paint I do prep the car though. After washing and drying I use masking tape to tape off any black plastic (like rear bumper, side view mirrors, fender vents, etc). Then I go at the car with the Power Ball 4 Paint so I don't have to be too careful with the wax. Combined with my cordless 18V drill I had a great time but used both batteries for one waxing. I like this product better than the bulkly orbital buffer I have.
