everyone, i see there is some discussion as to if these are shinka wheels. these are off of my 2006 shinka edition copper red RX8. I will post larger pictures this evening when I get home from work. I will also post a picture of the vehicle the wheels came off of. you can then judge. FYI- these wheels do not include TPMS- sorry, i neglected to mention this in the original post.

 

the dealership may have swapped rims and didnt let you know. or if you bought it used, the original owner.

I bought a 06 Shinka. I also had a hard time telling the difference between them and the regular wheels
Other ppl could see the difference right away! So guess my eyes aren't as good as
they once were?
I traded mine for Axis wheels.

 

Once I Mother's-polished my '05 Shinka wheels I couldn't really tell them from others, but do remember them being a bit darker when first purchased. They do have a unique part number (dealerships such as the very competent Rosenthal's match them by VIN).

I have the same wheels in my shinka, and as far as I can tell the shinka wheels look like dark chrome but not very dark. They also seem to have a metallic coating as opposed to the regular ones, I have compare them side by side.

 

i will look into any part number stamped on them and will provide that information. i will also see if the match my VIN in any way. interesting.

 

ok, attached are larger pictures. i took few new ones. there is a stamping inside the wheels "DOT J18X8JJ5008". I actually seen that photo before. That pic on the left is some guy on the mazda 3 forums that got his regular rx8 wheels repainted to look like shinkas. Ive seen shinkas upclose when i was driving around and they are definitely not as dark but has a nice shine to it.

all the guys with shinka rx8's who weighed in confirm they are shinka wheels. there seems to be some misconception about what the wheels look like.
