I'm Asian so I know that the RX-8 was actually being driven by a Celebrity driver. It's just proving that driver skill trumps just a car's performance figures. The Celeb driver was given the advantage of having a much faster car and the prodrivers were given the task of taking him out with lesser rides.

I agree if you watch the video he cant shift and by the way he takes the corners you can tell he has no experience. Its like hes afraid the car will break free. The weight distribution on the 8 is stellar compared to most cars. I'm going out on a limb here when I say the only car I know that rivals the 8 on weight distribution is a Porsche 944 turbo? Does anyone know if I'm even close on that?

Those best motoring videos are stupid. There is no control in their experimentation so you can't rely on their "battles" for solid information. I saw one of those videos where a nsx-r beat a loambo or ferrari... that was my last time watching one of those shitty videos.

 

The Bilstein dampers on the R3 and the tires are for daily drive...
Not really for track use.
A set of good tires and coilovers can make a huge difference, a set of R tires can reduce 3~5 seconds and a set of Coilovers can make another 3~5 seconds,
all other cars there are heavy moded :]
I'm not surprise to see that result ...

 

Thing is, the R has a HUGE advantage in weight and balance over a lot of the lambos and ferrari's out there, it's not always about hp numbers and how much the car cost. This vid is nothing to cry about, it's not like the 8 was heavily modded, plus it wasn't driven very well, against other tuned/modded cars with better driving technique...no brainer as far as I can see. Now if the 8 had similar tuning and a competent driver, and was getting its *** handed to it by weaker cars than that would be a bummer, but that's not the case here.
