You had difficulty but it started, or it did not start?

Do you have the old starter (pre- circa Jan '05 manufacture)?

Yes, if you have a manual transmission, push/pull starting it is a viable option.

yes it started but only after nearly 2 hours of crankin on and off which soon flattened the battery, had to start with a direct super charge ( which didnt do any good for the starter motor ). its a pain havin to warm the engine every time i need to move the car off the drive but hey! its worth it.

Its not that hard to let it warm up, i drive a block and a half to school in the middle of winter (-20 degrees so no way in hell i am walking) all you have to do is start it 5 min before u are going anywhere.

i would suggest keeping a quick jump in the trunk. my wife stalled and flooded mine a while back then she killed the battery trying to perform the accel to the floor crank 10 sec/ 3times fix w/no luck. After I got home I jumped it w/ her car and it didnt start after 30 sec of cranking so I went ahead and spun it for 60 sec in 10 sec intervals then it started but I dont know if you would get 60 sec of cranking on its own battery so Im buying a porta-jumper.

Get the upgraded starter hopefully under warranty. It'll fix the flooding and hard start issue.

its not the starter that gives up its the battery , what happens is that when the engine is flooded the fuel washes away the oil in the chamber which acts as a seal for compression , without compression the engine will never start. if you let the dealers fix it all they do is remove the plugs , squirt oil into the s/plug openings which acts as a seal, they then relace plugs and hey presto it starts and you end up with a large bill. neil ryan 54. u.k.
