So I went up to Wal Mart to get a birthday card and bag for a friend's birthday present and on my way back down Spring Creek, I had a car pull up next to me at the light. I pulled away just like normal and the car next to me punched it like he wanted to race. So I pulled up even with him (still in 2nd gear) and he tried to pull away again...at which point I looked to see what it was and it was one of these!!!!



Once I realized what it was...I left it in 3rd and took off! There was no way I was gonna let a camry think he could take me. So yeah...I barely hit 55 and he was beat bad.

I just couldn't believe some idiot in a camry thought he could beat me?!?!

Sorry...I just had to share with a few people who would understand.

i believe the v6 camry 0-60 is faster than an 8's on paper anyway.

camry is 5.7 secs

rx8 is 5.8

it would have been competitive. but take it to the track.

I agree completely with the "take it to the track" mentality. It was just the fact that some guy in a camry tried to run with me.

This was meant mainly for those in the DFW area since there always seems to be a camry that ruins our cruise plans.

He was just having fun, besides the fact that the Camry thought he had a chance was fun, if anything it was good to "beat him to the speedlimit" to put him in his place, kinda how i feel about Honda Civics with the 4ft. Muffler tip that you can hear 10 miles away and is sure to give you +25hp...

 

Actually if it's a V6 (do camry's even come in 4 cylinder? ) it's ALMOST a fair fight, at least in a straight line anyway, I'm just sayin

Yah, the base model Camry has a 2.4L inline 4 with 158hp.
The 3.5L V6 has 268hp and can trap 99.9mph in the quarter. Not almost a fair fight... it will beat an RX8 from a roll.

Now this seems to be a moment where i can say i have a auto, 4-port... How do you think i feel going against a V-6 Camry if yall get beat... , which is why im saving up for a manual... but thats a different story...

IMO, at least I hope, I believe if you have minor mods, but many, you can beat a V-6 Camry no? Assuming you have a complete new exhaust system (RB headers, RP supercat or no cat, RB exhaust), Overdrive pulley, K&N Drop in or Cold Air intake, Springs and Shocks (Idk if that'd help with over speed but it might be more aerodynamic being lower? just an assumption), Light-weight rims, BHR ignition system, Cobb AP tuned by MM, ... I believe that'd be enough to beat a V-6 right? I know im forgetting something but all of the above should beat a V-6 Camry

 

Why?

Just spend a grand on a proper NOS install and beat the crap out of any family car instead of spending more on the mods you listed above and not even get half of the power?

 

While that little 4 four door grocery getter might beat me to 100mph, I can promise I'll survive the turn at the end while they won't.

The road isn't always paved in straight lines...sooner or later there's a turn and I'll be waiting.
