This is the RX-8 we scanned for the film.
This is a comp of a couple screen grabs of the raw scan data.
I worked on scanning aprox 24 vehicles the latest Fast & Furious. I'll post some more pics soon.
Figured youd like the RX most of all.

3d scanning is definitely cheaper and faster. lol.

Just saw the movie last night, and the only rotary I saw was the purple FC during the burial seen of Letty. Dang how did I miss the 8? lol.

 

i didnt see the 8 either...

The 8 was towards the end. When they are getting chased and go into the cave. You only see the rear end of it. Prob like .5 seconds. 2 guys with me didn't notice, but that ms wing can't escape my eye!! :p

Why is it always Veilside in these movies? Do they have an exclusive contract with them or something? It would be nice to see a little variety.

Oh, and thanks for that scan image, that's pretty cool. What's the poly count on something like that?

 

I was one of the guys with him that missed it... I swear they didn't even show it in the whole scene leading up to the cave, seemed like totally different set of cars in the cave than they were before they drove in, lol.

 

there were 3 rotary's in the movie. the fc at the burial, and the brown fc, and rx8 in the cave chase.

I didn't even see the RX8 in the movie. I LOOKED for it.

There should have been a VeilSide Evolution 8 also, but didn't see that.
We did get to see the STi a lot though.

 

I didn't really care much for that STi, I've seen much better rides in Wolverine's thread.

 

seriously, its like they ran out of silver paint and decided to go black half way in.

 

Oh damn, I downloaded the movie and kept rewatching, you see it after the part where Vin Diesel jumps out of his car to knock the other guy out of his car. It drives through the fire.

yea I was disapointed it was a brief a shot with the 8 as it was too.

 

I have requested the other data.. but its in our archive and that takes a while to get sometimes....
