So I just bought the authentic Ings+1 body kit and my car is now at the body shop but apparently since the kit is from Japan I need to have extra work done on it to make it fit for the North American RX8 because RX8s here are different from Japan and have a steel plate or something that makes it harder to install the front bumper. I'm not sure if this is just me having bad luck...but I was wondering if anyone who bought the kit had any fitment issues. and for sure it is the authentic kit I got my parts dealer to get it from INGS japan.

 

Hrm..something doesn't sound right. One thing is for sure, that you would need work done. But not sure if it's to the extent that your shop is telling you.

 

Just because its authentic doesn't mean its free of fitment work.

Thats one of my favorite kits, and your body shop is correct, the US RX8's have a steel front crash beam that the JDM ones do not (US crash laws require this beam.) Thats why the MS Auth Kit has that front "mustache" front of plastic, its to cover up the US RX8's crash beam.

 

that is correct, although the rest of the fitment shoul dbe no problem,
seen below you can see the crash bar with a trim piece over top...

 

Your body shop is correct. I'd have them paint the rebar black too, because it will be visible through the INGS front opening.
