Rear fog light

you know we all want it - the rotor-shaped rear fog light the euro cars are getting. I want to have mine to put it on the day I pick up my car from the dealership. someone is going to sell these right?

Maybe, but I won't buy it separately. Serves no purpose for me really..

I've never liked front fog lights, so I may remove them. However, the rear Euro-spec rotor light looks interesting, although pretty useless, IMHO. Should I decide to get one, perhaps I'll run one of the front wires to the rear to possibly turn on this light. That is, if the fog lights have a separate control from the headlights!

Mazda USA will be offering this little piece as an option. The bad, a price of over $200 was mentioned. We'll see.

are these all options I can get from my dealer once they get the car? The aero, the foglight, the 6 cd in-dash, the cool key??? if not, I'm really getting bent over the table by having ordered already, cause these are all things I wanted.
And all the sudden my RX-8 is turning into a 40,000USD car with these options.

Screw the rear fog light, I want rear FLOOD lights that mount on my roof. That way when some oversized slow a** SUV is trying to drive in my trunk with his brights on I can blind him and subsequently make him crash. HEHEHEHE!!!!

I've searched for it, but haven't found it. Anyone have a link to a picture of this rear fog light? Or a picture to post here?

Thanks

Thanks Renesis08.

I like it! Not thrilled with a $200 price tag but maybe that is a high guesstimate.

Maybe they didn't include it standard for the same reason Mini disabled the one on the American versions- appparently we in the US tend to use fog lights like status symbols, and the rear fog lights are extra bright and they were afraid it'd create a blinding road hazard, literally.

I sent an inquiry to my MAZDAUSA RX8 order customer rep about options and the rumor a 'final' list would not be out till March. Also, specifically asked about the rear fog light for the USA.

"...there will be no additional options available other than the Navigation System. The rear fog light is not going to be available for United States vehicles. "

I believe the X-men movie car has a nice aluminum looking insert for the rotor shaped hole where the euro cars are getting the fog light and we are getting nuttin!

Depending on how it is wired, the rear fog may illuminate as though you are riding you're brakes.

While I think it is a nice addition to the rear of the car, I won't bother with it unless it works as a third rear running lamp/brake lamp, and must be less than $100. You can currently get little lights as I just described as a hitch plug for @ $30. I would think you could rig this similarly.

My wife's Audi A6 has a rear fog light, and I've never used it. A rotary shaped rear fog on the RX-8 would be sweet though. It would really be more for show than usefulness, but I don't have a problem with that. Then again, if it keeps someone from rear-ending you, it's worth every penny of the $200.

i think its a nice touch to the rear of the car...but even if we could get it...$200 would be way to much for it....are the euros getting it standard or is it an option?
