Hey I was just wondering if anyone has a one month carfax report. If anyone does and would be willing to run a VIN, it would be highly appreciated.

I do, i signed up for carfax a couple weeks ago when I bought my RX8.

Carfax only shows salvaged titles and major accidents that are reported to the DMV.

Many people know about this issue.

 

lets say someone backed up into a wall, and had it fixed through insurance, that shows up also right? Because insurance is in control of that VIN stuff yeah?

 

The vast majority of accidents don't show up on CarFax. If a police report wasn't filed the chances are very small, and if mpst cases even where there is a police report there's no record in CarFax. I've CarFax'd dozens of cars that I know had accidents, and have yet to find a single one with any entry about an accident on it unless it was one that resulted in a Total Loss.

It's really only useful for checking whether the Title is clean or not. That's it. And perhaps whether or not the car has been passed off numerous times or something else that may be suspicious. Oh, and it does tell you whether it was fleet-registered or not, which could be useful information if that concerns you.
