Mazda CX-9 Recall

2007-09 Mazda CX-9 Recalled

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=143190

Date posted: 03-04-2009

WASHINGTON — Mazda is recalling 30,600 of its 2007-'09 CX-9s equipped with the driver's power-adjustable seat with position memory function. In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mazda said in the worst case, functions such as seat position, height adjustment and seatback reclining may be "activated unexpectedly and be uncontrollable, causing serious difficulty in driving."
The electric circuit of the seat can short-circuit due to damage to the seat harness, according to Mazda. This problem is caused by improper wire routing of the seat harness under the seat cushion.
The NHTSA said the CX-9 seat problem could "cause serious difficulties in driving, increasing the risk of a crash." The affected vehicles were built in Hiroshima, Japan.
Mazda dealers will inspect the seat harness and fasten the seat frame with a cable tie. The harness covering will be repaired for free. The recall is expected to begin March 9. Owners may contact Mazda at (800) 222-5500.
Inside Line says: If you own one of the aforementioned Mazda CX-9s, have it checked out with your dealer ASAP. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

that would suck! I drove a CX-9 and as with most cars I had to move the seat ALL the way back in order to be comfortable.
If that damn thing suddenly started moving all the way forward and unreclined, I'd be so screwed. (being 6'5 has its disadvantages)

We're going to love it when the steering wheel is against our chest and face upon impact. Just imagine how fun its going to be when explosives are set off right against our chest and face (airbags).
