you just have to drive an RX-8 to understand it. Those who haven't, will never know...

EXACTLY, most people who back away from the rx-8 have

A) Never Driven it
B) Heard terrible stories of those fake, destroyed apex seals
C) Because you have to warm it up on a cold day

C, is rather ignorant as all cars need to be warmed up on a cold day, You cant just jump in a car, start it, then drive it instantly. I find it weird how many people are ignorant about the rx- series.

Sad that only 10% of the owners are ignorant of this car and complain 90% of the time when the other 90% of owners dont say ****

Hope that made sense.

I used to own and sell Rotary Mazdas back in the day, but I made my choice after that: I’ll take burns rubber not oil instead of the other way around.

Sure johnny, sure.

??? taken from part of the write up. Small missles... downshift... I think the reviewer got high from hitting 9000 red line too much

"As the car warms, the redline rises all the way to 9,000 rpm. A beep will sound when you hit nine grand, a subtle reminder to downshift before small, metal missiles start flying through the hood."

Like this guy.. he came "very very close" multiple times. Something tells me each of these times he ended up with a Dodge Minivan and needs a rationale that fits his ego properly.

Actually not true. BMW recommends driving right away while keeping RPMs low. (under 4k I believe)

Just saying. I love rx8 though.

Doesn't the RX-8 manual say sit for 10 seconds then drive while keeping it under 4k RPMs?

Ridiculous comments, but those perceptions are killing the RX-8's sales. Unfortunate.

I suspect the single greatest source of those misperceptions is this very forum. I would guess that most people shopping a sports car visit that's car's forum—right away—to learn as much as they can. So they come here, where 2/3 of the posts are about "engine flooded again," "engine failure," "has anyone solved their MPG problem" and why "everyone must premix" (even though only, what… 2%?… of 8 owners have ever heard the term).

Frankly, I'm surprised Mazda sells as many 8's as they do.
