First of all, thanks for the help on my previous thread. The clicking/clunk sound is gone! I still have an issue though. While my car is running at a regular speed (20 and above), I get this squeak sound from the brakes or it may be the suspension (a tick tick tick sound). I get the exact same sound when I apply the brakes gently. The sound does not occur when I am going at slower speed though(20 and lower). Also, the sound is coming from the front. I just got new rotors, pads, and hardware. Any thoughts of what may be causing this? Thanks

 

glad the last issue was resolved, did you use oem mazda brake parts and hardware..if not what name brand? any aftermarket sway bars any other suspension mods to help with finding the problem?

Did you reuse the shims, or just put the pads directly into the caliper?

 

Yeah that^. Make sure they used the OEM shims, also they should have greased the backs, top, and bottom of the pads and shims with high temp synthetic brake grease. These two items almost always silence noisy brake pads, even track pads.

 

I purchased new shims and clips. The pads are like brand new. Everything was installed the way it should be. Maybe I need some anti-squeak grease? I had the stock suspension and I was hearing the noise. Now, I installed springs and the noise sounds the same. I just don't understand why it squeaks when I am not stepping on the brakes.

 

When you put the shims on the pads, you didn't put the grease in between them?

 

I think the first thing you have to do is figure out whether the noise is coming from your brakes or your suspension. From your desription is could be either. Does the noise only happen when you brake, when you turn the wheel, when the car is moving, etc.

 

Yep springs could be out of the perch, end links loose, maybe even a tie rod.

Examine all, then test drive and listen.

Best thing is to have an old dog like me ride with you.

We know what the sounds are from experience.

See if you can find an old dog like me that knows how to roll................

 

did you bed the brakes properly? If not try that first and see if it helps.

 

Everything was installed great! I will get this issue checked out as soon as I have some time to myself though. School and work is taking up all my time at the moment..

 

People can't help much unless you explain things in detail. Posts asked specific details about the install you did (had done); you've not answered any one of them. It's not them being nosy, or for general interest, they have done this work before and these are important detail points, and details matter!

Saying, "Everything was installed great!" or "Everything was installed the way it should be." isn't the same as saying, for example, "Yes, I checked (I talked to the mechanic...) and there was anti-rattle grease put on the front and back of each shim.", or whatever the question was about.

Shortcuts are taken all the time, both in labor and materials used,, and are often the cause for complaints. Not beating you up, but some little things are important.

BTW: if you got new shims and clips, there should have been anti-rattle grease with them. Didn't you see that?

 

So was the clicking/clunk sound due to loose endlinks? I have this problem when touching the brakes when the car is stationary and was wondering if this is the cause?

 

i am also interested in know what really caused the clunking noise too because also have that noise coming from the rear...

 

Yes, I was watching while they installed the brakes. They also added grease to both sides of the shims and I made sure everything was fitted properly. For the clunk/click sound, it was actually the front shock bushings only, they were twisted a bit. When I installed my new springs, the pressure was released causing the same sound and they are straight again. I don't know if this could be the same problem for some of you.

 

Well now. So it wasn't your front brakes. Hmm. Didn't I suggest that since you were positive everything was installed correctly? Glad you got it fixed but the lesson here is if don't assume you know what the problem is. You only know what it's not based on what you've checked.

 

Yeah im having a squeaking squeal noise, it's coming from the passenger side, idk if it's the front or rear. but i think it might be coming from the wheels. kinda sounds like a Bent AXEL but with less noise, could it be bearings? or parts need to be regreased?

 

I had squeaking problems up front.
Had good pad life on my Hawk Ceramics, so it wasn't that.
I ended up greasing not just the shims, but the area on the caliper the clips rest on and a couple other spots pointed out in this TSB:

After that, no more squeaking.

 

Yeah but mine squeals with out having the brakes pressed in. It makes noise while free ballin

 

you need to remove and grease the sliders..

this is important..

if you dont know what i am talking about, pay someone to show you how to do it..

LOL um can you help me out? my car has been making Squeaks when i drive. sounds like its coming from the passeger side wheel or rear if im wrong. would mazda fix it? as warrenty?

Ok.... and it's not when im braking, while im driving. ive looked around and people said grease the sway bar bushings.
