Best Motoring ENDURO TEST

Rx8 is dead last as usual, but what I found interesting is the brake and tire temp after a 20lap race....Its really close to S2000 and I think its a good thing.

Before you said BM is biased and / or driver sucks, please note that the Rx8 driver was the 2004 winner in 24 hour Le Mans race driving an Audi R8

Enjoy!

i think if mazda equiped the rx8 with some 245/40 instead of 225/45 it would do ALOT better in most of these BM races

nah...its the power lost on the straight. Rx8 dont lose much time on the turns in that circuit...except the back straight.

sure the 8 is slow, as if we didn't know that. but the oil and water temps were amazingly stable. the 8 has dual oil coolers, i dunno about those other cars, but water temp? that's pretty good

That was very entertaining. I really enjoyed the cross section comparison. Very Fair.

Although I'm going to agree RX8URZ the RX8 is designed to be "Fun and enjoyable" with thin little drifting tires. I'm sorry guys... but even a little wider tires makes a HUGE difference for the RX8. The RX8 is designed to be a straight line car right? wrong! it's a balanced car designed for high speed corners. Going with the car's strength, you'll want more tire traction, large sway bars and new towers.

I use 265's and even with the little extra weight, on the track, the car makes up for it in the bends.

I wish Mazda gave the RX8 wider tires to start with.

from time to time I see my oil temp goes up to 110.

if I really push it, I can push my water temp to around 110 too. but it cools down fast when the fan kicks on to high.

interesting...maybe thats why Mazdaspeed Rx8 won in the "revenge" race after the first 2nd last race back in 2003...its the cornering speed increase...

Yup, I agree with those videos and their comments.

The Mazda Speed did remarkably well against the S2000 by beating it by a one second margin. That's pretty good!

What's in the Mazda speed version?
Doesn't it have light weight rims / Larger sway bars / Towerbars / coil overs /sports exhaust / CAI? (am I missing anything?)

That's a pretty big improvement over stock. Makes a difference for sure... I'd like to see more videos with Mazda speed. Best part is, there is still more areas to tweak for more performance!

seems that the straight line speed is still slower than S2000, but the tires and suspension improvement makes it big time on the bends...

On Mazdaspeed Rx-8 spec sheet, they said they have a "special mazdaspeed ECU tune" for it. never know what they got in there. cuz they only made 500 of them (Mazdaspeed version II they made I think 300 or something)
