The weather: a tear in my eye
Looking at our 2008 fall cruise photos on that thread put a tear in my eye...
Such beautiful weather, everyone's cars clean and shiny. In contrast how everyone's car looks like crap consistently for a month now with no rest in this kind of weather...
So brutal and unrelenting the weather this winter has been just like last winter, but feels worse!
I've never seen my car clean for over 1.5 months now...

I'm going to Hwy 7 and Kennedy to check out the system.. heard they use a "conveyor" belt system for moving the car? Some new type of "rail-less"? Anyways, it's touch free so that's okay, just gotta make sure the conveyor belt checks out.
I'm saved!!!!

Footman, do you wanna share the cost?
Its not limited to one car only...just one car wash per day.
If you got 14 washes in 90days its worth it...so...yeah
Petro canada got "SuperWash" and "Glide" ones(both railness)..they say the Glide one is the bomb but only Kennedy and 7 has one ... (close to our areas)
Let me know...PM me la b

How do we share the card though? if I wash every other day, and you wash every other day from now until April 20 (which from the looks of it, looks like going to be another LONG WINTER).
I just need it for the winter because in the summer, I self-wash.

It's winter! No matter how often you wash the car, it'll get dirty within 10sec's of hitting the public roads.
Just make sure you hose the car off whenever the ground is dry. Hold out for the 1st few days of spring.

Maybe we can alternate each week instead of days...you are not going to wash ur car every 2 days right...right?
OMG I think you will 'cause its what I am thinking too lol
Let me know about this la...we can probably get one this week and start using it!

The one in hw7 and kennedy has both 24hrs AND glide wash system...

Kafka, the sharing thing probably won't work... I don't see a viable way we could conveniently share the card. I mean ideally, if there is some sort of safe box near the gas station, we could do that.
I'm just going to go at it myself. In that case, I will wash daily.

petro is all touch no?
last time i went into a petro wash with my old car it came out looking like i drove it through a barb wire fence at a buck eighty......they had to pay for the repairs...the only thing petro washes are good for is to prep your car for paint...

Sunoco at Yonge/7 is by far the best car wash I've been to.
Petro has a new system called "GLIDE auto wash"... This is their version of touch free. As for "rail-free" status... they say they use a "conveyor" belt system on the website. I will go to the location at Hwy 7/Kennedy and report back what exactly that means.
As long as it doesn't have those 2 metal guards then it's cool. Because those metal guards can scratch up our rims because of our low-profile-ness.
The barb wire wash is the "Super clean wash"

I have nice looking 6-spoke alloys for winter. Same weight as stock too. I like to ride in style all year round so that's why it's important for me not to scratch the rims on rail-fed washers.

Lol...I pretty much got my car when it was cold and about to snow. I'm lucky because I don't know what I'm missing. I can't wait for this damn snow to melt!! Sunroof down for once!! And not just to smoke a j....
QFT= Quietly Farting Turtles obviously.
lol.
i just wash my car at work every saturday. i skipped a few when it was -20, but now that its a bit warmer i'll be doing that again. I like to wash it at work as it allows me to really get in the rear quarters and clean the crap out from all the little spaces. Plus, let the car sit all day in a heated garage, then wash it with warm water, then let it dry naturally in the heated garage. much nicer than freezing your nips off with the hand wash and the car freezing over afterwards. I agree with footman, washing your car frequently cant be any harder on it than road salt so if you have the time/money, why not wash it?
as for winter=tears. i had a dream last night. i went outside, the sun was shinning, green grass, no snow at all. it was so beautiful. then i actually woke up and looked out the window and said out loud "what the ****!" lol. what a let down. i could have cried.

Back with results to report
The "conveyor belt" system is exactly what it is... you drive your car up onto the belts (no rails). The belt moves your car through the system.
You get the deluxe car wash, giving you the option of choosing 6 out of 7 possible things, such as undercoat wash, tire/rim shine, triple foam cream cleanser, mineral free rinse etc.. etc...
The process is faster than I'd like it to be, which means the result is............ unfortunately, it's still not as clean as Sunoco's EcoBrilliant wash at Yonge/7.
However, assuming I wash everyday, that is a $1.70 wash ($150 / 90 washes) versus $13.00 wash at Sunoco.
Sunoco does have a car wash card, but it's Buy 7, get 10 free for Eco Brilliant which translates to $10/wash.
That is still $1.70 vs $10.00!!!
Winner Quality: Sunoco
Winner Value: Petro Canada Glide system
