Anybody know how to remove spray on tail smoke/tint? I tried a paint remover... Do I just rub it on there or is there something else I need to do?

 

That may work, but will most likely leave your tails hazey. Probably need to sand it off, then keep sanding and buff them out. Most likely ALOT of work. I used to polish out wrx headlights. Big pain. Start with 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, then buff the hell out of it. Might be better off getting another pair.

 

I c. I was kinda thinkin I might just have to get new ones.. Suks tho...

 

Try trading it in the FS/FT section of the forum?

 

There are a set here near me for $70 for the pair on craigslist.

Yea ima try this out first... If not ill just but new ones...

 

waitt, dont go buy new ones...go get a can of acetone from autozone and a rag, and just soak the rag and wipe the smoke off. Trust me, I take off my red tint spray and clear coat on my taillights every year for inspection (5 or 6 times so far). It hasnt hazed the plastic or damaged the taillights yet. Good luck

ACETONE..... WOW..... i didnt know that i could buy over the counter ACID!
so i read all the warnings on the bottle and man there were a lot.....
i applied to my left headlight and slowly but surely it came off with a little bit of haze im sure i can get out by buffing it, or polishing it....
i got just a little impatient with how long the first one took...................
i started my second taillight..............
i poured the bottle on the light.......
then i started to hear noise from the light? i was like wtf!?
anyway it ate the seals around the light, cracked the crap out of it and soooo much fog inside..... i need a new passenger light
acetone is baaaaad (for newbs)

you didnt think that a substance that can eat away paint will do wonders to glue?

 

doode it didnt just eat the glue..... it ate some of the plastic! telling you this stuff is like acid! but whatever..... im posed to get new lights tommorow....

 

sounds like an easier way to get the tailights open instead of baking them!

 

wow not sure your process, or what acetone you were using..but ive been using the acetone in the green bottle in the paint section of autozone, and it works everytime. Ive literally taken my red tint off about 5 times with no fogging or anything your talking about. I never poured it over the lights, but a little on a paper towel and wiping always took it right off. Sorry to hear though, i tried giving my advice
