Deals on 2008 models?

Anyone know of any dealers offering large discounts on leftover 2008 models? I was thinking of buying used, but I might go new if it is cheap enough, but I haven't seen that great of deals in my area...

Have you walked into a dealer, picked one out, and made a really low offer?

I can't picture any dealer making the first move on a low price.

Well maybe I was just lucky when I bought my 2004, I just called a dealer that had one with the color/options I wanted and they quoted me a firm price of about $7500 off MSRP, which was about as good of a deal as anyone was getting at that time.

I had the same thing happen to me, I was looking at Z's and Mustangs and I walked into the Mazda Dealership and he offered me $11,000 off MSRP. Got lucky.

With the economy the way it is I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't give you some kind of incentive.

I wish we had dealers like that around here. Was that in 2004?

There is a $3500 manufacturer rebate on '08s right now. Add on $1000 owner loyalty rebate if that applies to you. This is a good starting point. These plus S-Plan will get you $7500 off MSRP with no haggling, so with haggling at least as much may be possible.

Our local mazda dealer is offering their last 40th anniversary for 24K. Not too bad for a limited ed.

Someone mentioned the other day that they got a 40th edition with 500 miles on it for $22k. There's a pricing thread around here somewhere. I haven't been following it so I'm not sure if that represents the best people have been getting lately or not.

To get S-plan you need a relative who works for Ford. So move quickly, while Ford still has employees.

So I spent some more time searching around on the interwebs and called a few dealers.

There were some decent deals to be had, but the problem is that virtually all the inventory of 2008s left at this point is GT models loaded up with the overpriced tupperware appearance pieces and other crap, so even if they offer $8k+ off the price is still $25k+TTL.

This was early 2005. There were some factory incentives that had just started then, and most dealers that still had 2004s just wanted to be rid of them.

I mentioned in another thread that one of my condiderations was also to trade my 05 shinka in for a 40th AE. I have yet been able to find one where they're coming down low enough for me to trade "up" for a virtually identical car--although NEW is NEW.

It will be interesting to see what happens Monday when the current incentives and rebates expire. I'd love to see Mazda really sweeten the deal a bit more.

it's not impossible, but now you'd have to be very lucky to score that. you'd basically have to find a dealer w/ left-over '08 that's a base or sport model. this past fall i saw 10k off '08s, and at least one dealer (in san jose) offered me ~18k for a brand new base 6mt model

I found a few '08s in Raleigh going for $24500 out the door.

Oh and Riken, give it up. Take it somewhere else.

I was at Classic Mazda of Denton, Texas yesterday. They have three 2008 40th Anniversary Editions advertised for $25,995. I am unwilling to take on $500 per month payments right now, otherwise I would try to negotiate a deal.

best bet is slightly used, you can find a few with just over a few grand of miles on it, and that will make it at around 20k.
