How the hell does a "Clutch Switch Input Circuit Fault" affect emissions? More goddamned nanny state BS.

So, anyone have a diagnostic procedure for the P0704 Fault Code?

 

your just going to have to get a new switch

 

Switches are about $35 FOR BOTH......5 minute job

 

because that throws a CEL and thatll cause you to fail emmisions, thats how

 

could be the harness, but probably the switch.

 

cuz to pass inspection u have to have NO CEL.

it doesnt matter if its misfire or just gas cap. if u have a CEL, u will fail.

 

I understand the BS reasoning. But it's not a Check ENGINE light. It's a check something-on-the-car-that-was-reported-to-the-dash light. Since the clutch is not related to emissions it's an absurd failure. By that logic, if the FM radio reported to the ECU you might fail emissions after unplugging the antenna. It's crap like this that makes want to just say F*** it and completely ignore ALL of society's pointless rules.

 

Yea I know how you feel. It can be ghey at times. Just be like me and register in Iowa (even though I live in Chicago )
