Borla Exhaust Polish/Cleaner

Hi,

This is David Borla from Borla Exhaust (www.borla.com).

As most of you know, Borla Exhaust has been designing and manufacturing high performance, aftermarket exhaust systems that carry a million mile warranty for over 3 decades. One of the reasons we have been able to stand behind our products with such a powerful warranty for so many years is because we have always and will continue to exclusively use austenitic stainless steel in the manufacture of our exhaust systems.

While this material lasts over a million miles and will not rust, the exhaust systems from which this material is made will build up dirt, engine residue and other unwanted impurities over time that dull the finish.

Through the years we have received many requests for a cleaner/polish that restores the finish of a Borla exhaust to the way it was when it was new but we were unable to find one that worked especially well with the austenitic stainless steel used in Borla products. The metal polishes on the market were designed to work with many different types of metal and therefore did not do the best job possible on austienitic stainless steel.

After years of testing, Borla has finally developed an exhaust cleaner/polish that is specifically designed to work on stainless steel exhaust components for cars, motorcycles, boats, trucks etc.

Exhaust systems deal with specific elements like heat cycling, condensation, oxidation etc. that create unwanted affects to the material which are specific to exhaust. Borla's new polish is designed ONLY to counteract these affects and as a result performs better for this purpose than anything else available.

This product was awarded best new product at the 2008 SEMA show

Cheers

Where the heck did you guys get that 'before' picture? Yikes.

I may give this a shot. See how it compares to Old English Hot Chrome (attached).

Does this remove carbon buildup and any staining as well as the dirt/residue? And will this be available all over, at Borla retail outlets (ie. Summit Racing), or only from your site?

RK, this is Alvin from Borla.
Yes, the Borla polish will remove carbon build-up and it does a great job bringing back the original luster. Today our product is available only directly from Borla.

I might give it a shot just to see the difference.

BTW - I absolutely love the exhaust on my 8. Borla did a fantastic job on it.

I might try this but I'd need to see before/after pics before I'd be willing to pay 19.99 plus shipping just to switch products...

I've got a little rust forming on the tips - I'm curious to see what this would do (if anything) - let me know Nick...so what's the other present?

I do too. Im going to take the risk on spending the money to see if it will work.. the other present im giving my car is either RB header (I wish Borla had one) or some new fender vents. It depends on how much money i can make during winter break.

Nick - be sure if you do buy this that you take some "before" pics as well as "after" pics, so we can see exactly what the change was...oh, and then bring it over to my house so I can use it...

This is Alvin from Borla performance. Not sure about material of the greddy but our RX-8 Borla exhaust (including tip) is constructed in T-304 stainless steel. Our new Borla Exhaust Polish works great in keeping it looking like new. Thanks for your interest!

Your RX-8 Borla tips are T-304 stainless steel and our polish will definitely help remove the oxidized surface. Follow the directions (use bronze wool for stubborn areas - it won't scratch your Borla tips) and you'll be back to the original luster!

Hey Alvin. I was going to order but shipping really kills this. $13 shipping to OH for a $20 product puts this way above similar polishes. Hot Chrome is $24 shipped and that's considered very expensive.

I know your site is set up to ship bulk items (ie. an Borla RX-8 catback only costs $41 to ship which is phenominal) but you might want to look into reducing your shippping rate for the polish.

Look forward to the reviews though. Maybe it's worth $33.
